. The 2003
Chardonnay is a full-bodied golden-straw colored wine with aromas
of honey, green apple, and melon, with undertones of lemon zest, mango,
vanilla, and toast. The body of the wine is rich and supple, filling
the mouth with classic varietal flavors. It possesses a rich, full
entry that carries through the fruit from the nose. This builds to
an extremely long lingering finish with full fruit flavors. This wine
is best served between 58∞F and 65∞F and is very food
friendly; enjoy with traditional chicken, fish, or pasta with cream
sauces or try it on a hot summer day with some prosciutto and cheeses. |
It
is a luscious wine with a big mid-palette and long, lingering finish.
The rich, juicy mouth is very round and balanced from the soft tannins
that Stag’s Leap is famous for. There are hints of vanilla from
the oak but the integration of the new French oak, where it was aged
for 20 months, allows the fruit to show through as the primary focus.
The wine finishes with a soft, cocoa mouth and intriguing hints of
violets. Due to the limited supply of this wine, 6 bottles per person. |
The
2002 Hillside Chardonnay is a full-bodied wine
|
When
first opened this wine delivers a bright rush of cherries to the
nose. But, typical of the fruit from the Stag’s Leap appellation,
it evolves the longer it is open, revealing layers of licorice,
tobacco, dark cherries, tar and hints of soft cocoa. The soft,
mouth-filling tannins compliment rather than overpower the other
elements in the wine. While this wine is wonderful to drink now,
it will continue to evolve in the bottle for a number of years.
It would be wonderful with braised dishes, grilled meats and rich
cheeses. |

This
clean and crisp wine is well balanced with acidity that can be
paired with rich foods. The finish lingers with refreshing fruit
flavors and a hint of vanilla. 86% Stags Leap 14% Carneros. 100%
